![]() Vanessa Breault Mulvey, flute Vanessa Breault Mulvey, flutist, is an active performer throughout New England. She has performed as soloist and collaborating musician on many concert series, including the Chromatic Club, Federal Reserve Bank Series in Boston, Friends of the Reading Public Library, 1794 Meeting House Concert Series, Longy SeptemberFest and Faculty Artist Concerts, and the Longfellow Summer Festival. A collaboration with the combined ensembles of the Longy Chamber Singers and the NEC Camerata resulted in a recording of Shchedrin's The Sealed Angel on the Sonora label. A review of the recording in Fanfare Magazine described Ms. Mulvey's performance as "ethereal." She has been invited to perform Apparitions by John Heiss at the 2001 National Flute Convention in Dallas, Texas this August. She is a founding member of the Newbury Chamber Players. Ms. Mulvey has been guest soloist with the Longy Summer Orchestra, Longy Chamber Orchestra, and the Crane Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Mulvey is Chair of the Woodwind and Brass Department at the Longy School of Music. She is a contributing author to Flute Talk magazine, and is quoted in The Young Musician's Survival Guide: Tips from Teens and Pros (Oxford) by Amy Nathan. A sought after clinician, she is frequently invited to schools throughout New England as a guest artist for clinics and concerts. Ms. Mulvey is a graduate of the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and has studied with John Heiss, Trudy Kane, Kyril Magg , Kenneth Andrews, and Jack Wellbaum.
